 | Rural Debate |
 |
The public debate held in Baldwins Gate to discuss policies for rural areas was well attended by residents, and we had a lively discussion. It was an excellent opportunity for the public to question the panel, consisting of Robert Jenrick (PPC, Newcastle), Bill Cash MP (Stone), Philip Atkins (Leader, Staffs County Council) and Simon Hart (CEO, Countryside Alliance), and the panel were keen to listen to, and learn from, the residents’ concerns.
People were particularly concerned with services such as rural schools and post offices, and with the effects of the recession which has hit rural areas very hard because there are a higher number of small businesses.
